Our purpose is simple and that is to feed our family, friends, community and soil.
SunCatcher Farms is an independent urban vegetable farm operating in a backyard, in SW Portland. We love the idea of not only creating a local spot where our friends and family can get fresh food but a community where the neighbors can count on us for their weekly produce from just across the street.
We are in the process of becoming Certified Organic, due to COVID, the wait to get certified is much longer than normal. Don’t worry, we only farm organically.
We love our planet and we feel it is part of our duty to replenish the soil as we farm and harvest. We practice our stewardship by disturbing the soil as little as possible, celebrating the ecosystems, microbes, worms, and bugs that play an important role on the farm, and also plant flowers and other beneficial plants that create an admirable living space for all things living on the farm. We work with mother Nature.
Masanobu Fukuoka said it nicely, “If we throw mother nature out the window, she comes back with a pitchfork.”
If you want to learn more about our growing practices, head to our contact page and send me an email, I’d love to talk farm and share our practices.
